If you're a seasoned Casinero, completely new to Casino/Salsa Rueda, or somewhere in between, this group has something for you! Come out to our next meetup, where you will learn different calls, as well as dance in the appropriate level Rueda circle. Rueda involves many elements of Salsa, and it helps to have at least a basic understanding of Salsa dancing, music, timing and partnering, but it's not necessary, as you can learn these elements in the beginner's circle. What makes Rueda unique is that the dancing is done as a group, in the shape of a wheel, with leaders rapidly and continuously exchanging followers. A call is a specific move or pattern, and the calls must be learned in order to dance them when called in a circle. Many of the calls also have hand signals so that the caller can signal the moves in a loud club setting. Dancers learn to be more present and to have a higher level of awareness beyond that of solo or partner dancing, which helps the Rueda dance flow smoothly, look sharp and be fun! In this way, dancers coordinate and adjust their individual feel, timing and style so as to make the Rueda circle click. When this happens, it is very exhilarating!
You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
